Dislocated workers can find help finding financial help, jobs and training opportunities at the Galesburg unemployment office in Knox County, Illinois. In addition to providing the forms and documents needed for seeking unemployment insurance benefits, the Workforce Service Center maintains a Career Resource Room with fax machines, copiers, telephones and computers for use by the public. The computers provided at the center have Internet connections so that jobless workers can access the state of Illinois online filing systems, as well as search national and local databases of job listings. Computers can also be used to create, post and print resumes for use in job applications.
Rooms are on site that can be used for job interviews with employers who come to the office. Job seekers under the age of 18 can get help obtaining work permits and jobs for the summer. Workers with children can get help locating childcare and financial aid. Those without a high school diploma can get help preparing to take the test to qualify for a GED. There is public parking provided at the facility, and a bus stop is directly in front of the office, which is open from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm, Mondays thru Fridays. Galesburg is near Knoxville, Henderson, Surrey, Coldbrook, Soperville, Wataga, Cameron, and Utah.
