Mount Vernon Unemployment Office

In the center of Jefferson County, Illinois, the unemployment office in Mount Vernon is open to the public on Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with parking is available on site. It's located at the north end of Potomac Boulevard, near the AMC Showplace Theatre. Adjacent locales include Idlewood, Summersville, Drivers, Woodlawn, Morganville, Marcoe and Bakerville.

The Mount Vernon unemployment office provides those in need with a full range of assistance, beginning with help in filing for unemployment insurance benefits. Jobless workers in need of UI compensation can file by paper documents, by the Illinois touch-tone Tele-Serve system, or by accessing the state's online claims system using the Mount Vernon center's public computers, which are provided with Internet access. Telephones, fax machines and copiers are additional resource provided at this location. The computer stations can also be used to search online jobs listings and hiring requirements, as well as to create and post resumes that can be seen by local employeres with open job opportunities.

The office can also help you obtain help preparing for a GED examination, in finding financial aid for job training and in locating childcare services so that you can accept job offers. Younger workers are given help getting work permits and summer job opportunities. Veterans are entitled to assistance from special Veteran's Representatives who can be met by making a prior appointment.

  1. i have been out of work for 7 years how can i get any work if no one will hire me iv look all over and i feel like i may be to old i am only 46 years old and cant find any thing i need a pay check coming in to help my family its a all young people world now days so if you can help me let me know some thing on how to get a job that some one will give me work,,,,,,ty mike
